Stale Cake, 2025

Libra Theatre Cafe, as part of Camden Fringe, London, Uk

Writer - Gabrielle Hofmann
Director - Gabrielle Hofmann
Producer - Gabrielle Hofmann & Laura Sheridan
Stage Manager - Charlie McIntyre Newton
Cast - Alice Barker, Dennis Msatida, Gruff Gwynn, Habil Yaldaz, and Tara Korda Kolar

Thomas, Noah, Olivia and Archie come together for the death anniversary of their friend, Jake, who died in a car crash a year ago. But when an outsider arrives with a birthday cake, the evening takes a turn no one saw coming.

Secrets slip out. Old wounds resurface. Resentments bubble up.
Grief doesn’t play fair, and neither does love.

Stale Cake is a 55-minute emotional pressure cooker, written with the dark wit of a sitcom and the rawness of a confession. This is a story about holding on too tightly, letting go too late, and the uneasy truth that sometimes some friendships are not meant to last forever.

Uncomfortably funny. Surprisingly tender. Deeply human.
No matter how much icing you use, the cake still goes stale.
